Brand new episodes of Fia’s Fairies coming soon on RTEjr

RTEjr has announced that 13 new episodes of the original Irish animated series, Fia’s Fairies, will begin airing on February 27th, 2023

Dublin, Ireland - February 16, 2023 - Fia’s Fairies will return to our screens on February 27th, 2023. Thirteen brand new episodes featuring Fia and her Fairy Island friends will begin broadcasting later this month, airing weekdays on RTEjr at 10.25 and 15.55 and weekdays on RTE2 at 09.20. Episodes will also be available for streaming on the RTE Player.

Created by Little Moon Animation, the series (26 x 5 minute episodes) aims to introduce children to the Irish language. It tells the story of Fia and her best friend Ameer as they go on adventures to Fairy Island where they learn the enchanting Irish language from a pair of fairies, Bláithín and Cuán, and all their magical friends.

The series stars Dublin born Alisha Weir (MATILDA THE MUSICAL - NETFLIX) alongside Elsie Akinduko, Gráinne Bleasdale and Doireann Ní Chorragáin. The first half of Season One began broadcasting on October 31st, 2022 and the episodes are currently available on the RTE Player. 

“Fia's Fairies has already begun capturing the imaginations of children around Ireland. We are thrilled to see so many young viewers engaging with the Irish language in such a fun and relatable way,” said Eoghan Garvey, Director of the series. “The response to the first 13 episodes that broadcast on RTEjr late in 2022 has been overwhelmingly positive and we can’t wait to share more of these loveable characters with our young audience.”

“The whole team has been working hard to deliver another 13 adventurous episodes of Fia’s Fairies later this month,” said Vanessa Robinson, Creative Producer of the series. “Our goal has been to introduce Irish to preschool audiences through the magic of Fairy Island and we know that the next episodes won’t disappoint our young viewers.”

To further promote the Irish language, learning resources will be made available through a dedicated website, www.fiasfairies.com, and various social media channels such as TikTok, Instagram and Facebook, from March 2023.

Fia’s Fairies is produced with the support of Fís Éireann / Screen Ireland, RTEJr, the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland and the incentives for the Irish Film Industry provided by the Government of Ireland.
